The tissue culture core facility is fully equipped to do both cell and tissue cultures. It features a class II biosafety cabinet, laminar flow cabinet, CO2 incubator, inverted microscopes, dissecting microscopes and a liquid nitrogen cryogenic storage unit for long term cell storage.
The facility is also equipped to study developmental biology using the chicken embryo model. Injection and electroporation equipment is available for tissue manipulation of chick embryos. Linda White, who is in charge of the facility, has 30 years of cell and tissue culture experience to advise and train facility users.
